NCS Adviser (Prisons)

We are looking to recruit a NCS Adviser working on the National Careers Service Custody contract.

The key focus of this important role is providing careers advice/guidance and the referral and placement of clients into learning and development that fit their needs. Also, to work with clients to broaden their career horizons, support their personal development needs to enable them to make effective decisions and take positive action and progress into education, employment, learning and training opportunities.

Potential applicants must hold a relevant qualification of at least level 3 e.g.

  • Career Information Advice and Guidance level 4 diploma

  • NVQ level 3 in Advice & Guidance

  • NVQ Level 4 in Advice & Guidance

  • NVQ Level 6 in Advice & Guidance

We are looking to recruit a Progression Worker to join our Sefton team.

The key focus of this role is to provide impartial information and advice, with the aim of broadening career horizons, supporting the personal development needs of individuals to enable them to make effective decisions, resulting in progression into education, employment or training.

You will work as part of an enthusiastic team, engaging direct with young people and their families. Based in Southport Connexions centre you will also have a focus on taking the service out into the community and across Sefton. You will have the opportunity to develop professional networks with other intervention agencies and education and training providers.

Applicants must have the relevant qualification or be working towards:

  • Career Information Advice and Guidance level 4 diploma

  • NVQ level 3 in Advice & Guidance

  • Vocational Qualification – appropriate qualification which demonstrates an ability to work with young people or adults

Case Manager Achieve North West Connect

Achieve North West Connect:

Achieve North West Connect (ANWC) is delivering NOMS CFO’s ‘Services to improve the employability of disadvantaged ex-offenders in the North West’. Funding is provided jointly through National Offender Management Service (NOMS) and the European Social Fund (ESF).

Delivery of the service is focused around the NOMS case management model; offenders are assigned a Case Manager who works with them throughout their journey to employment, working in parallel with offender managers/responsible officers who manage their offending behaviour. The project is voluntary but it targets ‘hard to reach’ offenders who require additional support to get them ready for work.

ANWC in the North West is highly successful and delivers an excellent service to offenders. We currently employ Case Managers who work across the district in both community and custodial settings.

The position is split between: HMP Thorn Cross and HMP Risley

The role of the case manager is to engage and work with eligible offenders, providing a case management approach to the delivery of Employment Training and Education (ETE) interventions. The case manager will deliver bespoke interventions to offenders on a one to one and group basis. This will include the delivery and assesment of accredited courses and employability related training. The role will require liasion and referal to external agencies who can further support the offenders. The case manager will complete comprehensive records on a Case Tracking and Assessment System.
