Career Connect is a large vibrant and innovative Charity delivering advice and guidance
services across the Northwest.

Originally established as Greater Merseyside Connexions in 2001 and later became a Charity
(April 2011) forming as Career Connect.

Since our formation as a Charity in April 2011, the Charity has gone from strength to strength.
With a workforce of 400+ employees and a passion for helping others realise their potential,
we help adults and young people make informed choices to succeed in work, education and
training.

We have successfully delivered a wide range of contracts and have expanded our reach well
beyond the Liverpool City Region, with significant delivery across Manchester and the North
West.

We have a strong relationship with 200+ schools as their chosen IAG specialist and deliver the
National Careers Service providing universal careers guidance to adults across the Liverpool
City Region, Cheshire & Warrington and Lancashire, in community venues such as job centres
and in prisons, supporting offenders.

Achieve North West Connect are a wholly owned subsidiary of Career Connect and specialise
in targeted support for offenders in custody and community (including ‘through the gate’)
helping people to overcome barriers and make positive changes/ achieve goals.

We also cover several local authority areas, delivering NEET services and have a significant
social investment programme - Unlocking Potential, who work with vulnerable young people
aged 14-17 (up to 25 for young people with SEND) that are NEET/at risk of becoming NEET.

X1 Engagement Worker Level 1 – full time 35 hours per week (Wirral, Birkenhead)

X1 Engagement Worker Level 1 – part time, 17.5 hours per week (Knowsley, Huyton)

The role of Engagement Worker is to engage with young people supporting them in making successful transitions into Education, Employment and Training.

You will be expected to use innovative methods and approaches to engage those young people who have had a minimal contact with the service.

You’ll carry out telephone calls and attend home visits and will build respectful and trusting relationships with young people and their families who face difficulties/disadvantages through life, learning or work.

You will need to be able to get to residential areas and navigate through lists of follow up. A car would therefore be an advantage, whilst not essential for the role if you're able to travel via public transport.

You’ll work part of a highly motivated and friendly team with excellent links with partners and the wider community.

Coach

We are looking to recruit a Coach on a Fixed Term Contract up to 31 March 2019, to work on the Cheshire and Warrington NEET Programme.

The role will be to deliver a structured training programme to eligible young people (aged 15-24) who are the most disadvantaged or who are NEET or at risk of becoming long term NEET. This will include young carers, offenders/ex-offenders, pregnant/teenage parents, are in care or are care leavers or have special educational needs and/or disabilities.

You will be delivering Accredited Learning up to Level 2, as well as non-accredited training to inspire, motivate and equip young people to make successful transitions into Employment, Education or Training outcomes.

The role will support the delivery of innovative, interactive and engaging activities and the production of resources as well as supporting work-related activities and the sourcing of work experience placements.

It will involve liaison and business development with partner organisations (e.g. schools, Job Centre, Probation and youth offending teams, other specialist services) to undertake recruitment, assessment, delivery and support of young people.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop a professional role across a diverse and interesting area of business growth. 

There is a need for a teaching qualification Level 3 or above, as determined by the commissioner.

New Leaf Education, Training and Work Mentor

Role Title: Education, Training and Work Mentor (Cheshire West- Main base of work Chester)

Salary: up to £25,617 (DoE) -Funded until 31.08.19 - With the possibility to extend role to other Career Connect opportunities.

Building Better Opportunities multi-agency Big Lottery Fund / ESF funded programme, ‘New Leaf’ is an innovative project, targeting individuals furthest away from the labour market in the Cheshire and Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) area, to help them in their journey towards employment.

Led by Warrington-based Golden Gates Housing Trust, working in partnership with 30 other organisations, New Leaf will support 2,800 individuals over a three year period, providing a tailored service, giving individual support and direction.

The New Leaf mentor will hold a caseload of participants and work with these individuals to determine their learning or employment goals. The cohort of participants will be ex-offenders who wish to move away from offending into positive learning and employment. This involves working with partner organisations to refer participants to training and learning opportunities. The mentor will record these successful outcomes on a database. Some travel across Cheshire and Warrington may be required.

Case Manager - Achieve North West Connect - Community Based

Achieve North West Connect:

We are recruiting for 5 Case Managers with delivery across the North West: Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside.

Community based staff may be required to work in a prison at some points during the life of the project.

Achieve North West Connect (ANWC) is delivering Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) CFO’s ‘supporting social inclusion through improving the employability prospects of offenders’ project. Funding is provided jointly through HMPPS and the European Social Fund (ESF).

Delivery of the service is focused around a case management model; participants are assigned an Achieve case manager who works with them throughout their journey to employment, working in parallel with offender managers who manage their offending behaviour. The project is voluntary but it targets ‘hard to reach’ offenders who require additional support to get them ready for work.

The roles:

We are looking to employ a number of confident and performance driven individuals who can positively motivate offenders/ex-offenders into education, training and employment.

The role of the case manager is to engage and work with eligible individuals, providing a case management approach to the delivery of learning, training and employment opportunities. The case manager will deliver bespoke interventions to participants on a one-to-one and group basis. This will include the delivery and assessment of accredited courses and employability related training. The role will require liasion and referral to external agencies/partners who can further support the participants and then progress them into employment opportunities. The case manager will be required to record their work accurately on our internal recording database.

The posts are permanent although subject to a satisfactory 6 month probationary period.

ANWC in Greater Manchester and Cheshire is highly successful and delivers an excellent service to offenders. We currently employ 16 Case Managers who work across the district in both community and custodial settings.

The post is initially to cover maternity leave for a 7 month period. At the end of this period the successful candidate will be re-assigned to another team manager post within ANWC.

 The role:

The role of the manager is to manage the team (along with a colleague manager) and have oversight of the day to day delivery of sub-contractors. Our subcontractors offer a range of specialist services including mentoring, training courses, volunteering opportunities, work placements and employment brokerage.  Additionally, the manager has a key function in developing and sustaining partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders.

You will initially be based in Manchester, but there is expectation of travel across the NW region, including to our head office in Liverpool.Whilst the post is permanent there is a 6 month probationary period.
