Robert Halfon Minister of State for Apprenticeships, Skills and Careers
MP Robert Halfon has been out visiting Career Connect’s Lancashire based Advisers, delivering the National Careers Service.
Halfon was keen to talk to Career Connect staff and adult learners from Blackpool and the Fylde College. He visited a group of adults on a construction training programme designed to help long-term unemployed people back to work with a fantastic 97% success rate. NCS Advisers are on hand to ensure that relevant labour market information is available and integrated into their employability programme, as well as offering one-to-one careers advice and guidance.
“Skills and apprenticeships are something I have been passionate about since my very first day as an MP. In fact, in my first speech in the House of Commons, I argued that we need change the way that we view apprenticeships so that they are held in the same regard as going to University. I strongly believe that we must transform the nature of vocational training and apprenticeships in our country to give people the necessary skills and training to open up opportunities and jobs for their futures.” Robert Halfon
