Achieve North West Connect:
We are recruiting for two projects with delivery across the North West:
Achieve North West Connect (ANWC) is delivering Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) CFO’s ‘Supporting social inclusion through improving the employability prospects of offenders’ project. Funding is provided jointly through HMPPS and the European Social Fund (ESF).
Delivery of the service is focused around the case management model; participants are assigned a case manager who works with them throughout their journey to employment, working in parallel with offender managers who manage their offending behaviour. The project is voluntary but it targets ‘hard to reach’ offenders who require additional support to get them ready for work.
ANWC is highly successful and delivers an excellent service to offenders. We currently employ 35 case managers across the North West who work in both community and custodial settings.
Employment Support project: We are also recruiting Case Managers for a new employment support project to assist offenders and ex-offenders back into work. Successful candidates will be hosted by the National Probation Service (NPS) and work directly with NPS staff to identify an eligible caseload. The Case Manager will work on a one-to-one basis with clients, create a tailored action plan together before setting plans to achieve this. You will set up and co-deliver a weekly job club with your NPS colleagues to allow your clients opportunity to research and apply for new work. As well, the successful Case Managers will be skilled in delivering employability support interventions such as CV writing, mock interview and feedback, motivational work and setting realistic goals.
We are looking to employ a number of confident and performance driven individuals who can positively motivate offenders/ex-offenders into education, training and employment.
The role of the case manager is to engage and work with eligible individuals, providing a case management approach to the delivery of learning, training and employment opportunities. The case manager will deliver bespoke interventions to participants on a one-to-one and group basis. This will include the delivery and assessment of accredited courses and employability related training. The role will require liasion and referral to external agencies/partners who can further support the participants. The case manager will be required to record their work accurately on our internal recording database.
Locations for the community based posts: Chester, Manchester, Atherton, Blackpool and Liverpool.
Location for the custody post: HMP Manchester
(Community based staff may be required to work in a prison at some points during the life of the project)
The posts are permanent although subject to a satisfactory 6 month probationary period.
Eligibility: Existing Career Connect staff or those applying externally.
- Internal staff wishing to apply for this post must seek their line manager’s approval, in principle, to their release from current duties, prior to making application.
