Jobs for Tomorrow
Greater Merseyside has identified 4 growth sectors that it is thought can provide increasing economic growth and jobs in the next 20 years. Economic action plans have been drawn up to develop and grow the value of these sectors to the local economy.
We were commissioned by the City Employment Strategy to develop Careers and Local Labour Market information and resources to support young people, adults, parents & carers, schools & colleges’ understanding of how these growth sector developments would impact the availability of emerging career and qualification choices and the jobs for tomorrow.
The four sections are:
Working with partners across Greater Merseyside, a suite of resources was produced within a 4 month timescale, meeting the required deadline & budget. The high quality CEIAG resources include overviews of the sectors, case studies and filmed interviews with employees and employers, progression routes and lesson plans, plus links to more information.
The resources have proved extremely popular and have generated much interest. As well as informing via the website www.careerconnect.org.uk/jobsfortomorrow.aspx, we have also produced presentations, workshops, careers fairs and conferences based around the materials and our local and national employer & sector links, which can give your students the edge in the current and future jobs markets in Merseyside.
This is just one of a range of initiatives we are introducing to help our young people and adults prepare for employment. Not only can our residents better plan their career path, but employers have played a key part in developing the materials to ensure potential employees are aware of the skills employers are looking for. Through the materials, we are supporting our residents to achieve their career aspirations.
