Career Connect

In her latest blog, Career Connect's Youth Voice Co-Ordinator, Evie Chambers, provides an update on what she's doing to ensure young people’s voices are at the centre of everything we do.

Hi everyone,

Welcome to my latest update as Career Connect Youth Voice Co-ordinator. Having now been in post for 5 months, I wanted to share with you an update on some of the activities I’ve been working on with young people and the changes we’ve made.

Feedback from Young People

Over the past few months, I have travelled around the Northwest, collecting feedback from many young people who access our services and I have been sharing it with our staff, so they can see what young people think about our careers services and how they can be improved. We’ll be sharing these findings publicly, so that young people can see how their opinions have been heard throughout Career Connect.

Ambassadors

One key area we are working on is the recruitment of our new Career Connect Youth Ambassadors. We are setting up a 12-month programme for people aged 16-24 to use their voices to help improve our careers service. We are inviting 12 young people to join us at Career Connect to shape the services that our charity provides.

Connect To Your Future Newsletter

Our Connect To Your Future programme has now been up and running for 9 months so, earlier this year, I spoke to a focus group of 15 young people from across Greater Manchester who have used the programme. We reviewed their recommendations and have now made change based on their feedback. You can see all the improvements we have made based on your feedback by  reading our September Newsletter

Mental Health Campaign for Young People

To mark World Mental Health Day today, we are excited to announce that Connect To Your Future is holding a Wellbeing Week for young people from Monday 24th October.

The week will include events and online sessions to help support young people’s mental health. Activities to expect include coffee and chat afternoons, mediation and mindfulness sessions, journaling workshops and much more. Keep your eyes peeled on our social media channels for dates of events and sessions!

Connect To Your Future aims to helped young people aged 15-19 in Greater Manchester to get their careers moving in the aftermath of the Covid -19 pandemic. The programme is funded by Greater Manchester Combined Authority and the European Social Fund.

How can you help?

We’d love to hear from young people to find out what they feel is important to them in getting their career moving and how they think we can make our services better.
